About the position

The Employment Training Program Coordinator is a supervisory role within the NOVA Workforce Services Department, responsible for overseeing the Young Adult Program that serves participants aged 17-24. This position involves managing day-to-day operations, supervising career advisors, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements. The coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting young adults in their career journeys by providing guidance and resources to facilitate employment success.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and coordinates various administrative functions and employment and training programs and activities for the department.
  • Oversees the activities of assigned programs and/or projects, providing training and monitoring to ensure success.
  • Implements and develops programs and/or projects.
  • Evaluates and audits the work of subordinate personnel.
  • Responds to inquiries, requests, and complaints from the public.
  • Coordinates activities for targeted populations, linking with subagents and community services.
  • Markets and promotes department programs to employers and community agencies.
  • Assists in developing and modifying program unit policies and procedures.
  • Compiles and analyzes financial, technical, and administrative documents.
  • Monitors case management activities and assists with sensitive client interactions.
  • Ensures compliance with department policies and procedures.
  • Prepares marketing and outreach materials and makes presentations.
  • Collects, compiles, analyzes, and reports on data related to programs and services.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with businesses and community partners.
  • Monitors program performance relative to established goals.
  • Provides direct and indirect supervision to staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in career counseling, social work, business administration, accounting, or a related field.
  • One year of general administrative or supervisory experience in a State or Federally funded employment and training program.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and local regulations governing employment and training programs.
  • Understanding of the local labor market and job search strategies.
  • Familiarity with employment issues specific to target populations.
  • Experience with vocational assessment instruments and their application.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Understanding of budget administration and grant administration principles.
  • Experience in supervision, training, and performance evaluation.
