About the position

The Supported Employment Services position focuses on providing essential support and services to individuals enrolled in community-based employment programs. The role aims to ensure the successful placement and retention of workers in competitive employment by assisting candidates in achieving their vocational goals through various evaluation, assessment, and training techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight for a caseload of Supported Employment Services participants.
  • Deliver services/support at employment locations and document compliance with programmatic regulations.
  • Attend team and Life Plan Review meetings to communicate employment-related progress and develop comprehensive plans.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with legal mandates such as OPWDD, ACCES-VR, COMPASS, and CQL.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with employers, ACCES-VR, OPWDD, families, and other support team members.
  • Advocate for individual rights at the worksite and facilitate social integration of supported employees.
  • Screen and evaluate individuals for competitive community-based jobs and perform worksite analysis.
  • Engage in job development to select potential employers and provide support during the hiring process.
  • Provide on-the-job skills training and travel training on public bus routes as needed.
  • Counsel individuals and their families regarding vocational concepts related to employment goals.
  • Provide case management services and make referrals to other service providers as appropriate.
  • Maintain case records in compliance with programmatic and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human services.
  • Six months of experience working with people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Prior job development, marketing, or sales experience preferred.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and/or holidays when necessary.
  • Defensive Driving and CPR training required.
  • Valid NYS driver's license throughout employment.
  • Good team building skills and written and oral communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency in all Microsoft Office Suite applications.
