About the position

The EMR Instructional Designer plays a crucial role in integrating systems knowledge with adult learning practices to deliver effective education to various populations within the enterprise. This position focuses on the design, development, and implementation of training programs related to electronic medical records (EMR) systems, ensuring that educational content is accessible and relevant to learners.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with project leads to coordinate planning, design, development, training, implementation, communication, maintenance, and evaluation of information systems functionality.
  • Maintains current knowledge of software and actively researches project requirements to provide guidance for efficient and cost-effective support.
  • Works with the Training Environments Manager to build and test data elements within training environments, analyzing complex problems and validating system builds.
  • Expands systems knowledge by cross-training as an educator/facilitator in other application training areas.
  • Applies best practice education methods in the design, testing, delivery, and evaluation of training and education, including developing customized e-learnings and training documents.
  • Translates EMR system complexity into educational content that is relevant and accessible to learners, accommodating diverse learning styles and cultural needs.
  • Provides instructor-led or Computer Based Training (CBT) education as required, maintaining educational resources on the organization's intranet and third-party Learning Management System platforms.
  • Manages logistics for education delivery, including space management and equipment preparation.
  • Provides direct customer service for EMR systems issues, complaints, or requests, offering end-user education and support during and post-upgrade implementations.
  • Follows standard operating procedures for issue, change, and access management, considering process improvement as systems evolve.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Three years of experience with application systems and analytical tools in designing, delivering, and evaluating adult education.
  • Experience in a healthcare environment and experience with adult education is required.
  • EPIC certification.
