About the position

Professional Ambulance is seeking an experienced Customer Service Agent & Dispatcher to join its administrative team. This role involves significant supervisory responsibilities and requires the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. The dispatcher will be the first point of contact for patients and referral sources, responsible for triaging medical transportation requests and ensuring effective communication and customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Recognizing and triaging medical transportation requests made on behalf of customers and patients.
  • Developing an understanding of health insurance reimbursement policies and maintaining records in dispatch and billing platforms.
  • Communicating clearly and delivering strong customer service to patients and community partners.
  • Assisting with and supervising EMTs/Paramedics during shift changes and operational challenges.
  • Taking calls, assigning emergency and non-emergency medical transportation resources, and performing simple administrative tasks.
  • Coordinating other EMS operations and improving efficiency through calm communication with colleagues.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Possess a healthcare-related associate's degree.
  • Satisfactory criminal background report.
  • Experience as an EMT or EMS Dispatcher preferred.
  • Understanding of Basic/Advanced Life Support concepts and simple medical terminology.
  • Strong computer skills, capable of using Windows-based CAD programs and GPS tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Customer service experience as a replacement for EMS expertise.
