About the position

The EMS Instructor - Lab/Clinical at Oklahoma City Community College is responsible for providing quality instruction in laboratory and clinical settings for students pursuing EMT and Paramedic certifications. The role emphasizes supporting student success, maintaining curriculum integrity, and promoting the mission of the division and the college. This position is safety-sensitive and requires adherence to drug testing and background check protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality lab instruction to students in accordance with National Registry standards.
  • Assist students in developing required skills and evaluate their proficiency.
  • Document observations of student skills and behaviors for various EMT levels.
  • Communicate effectively with EMS faculty and lab coordinators regarding objectives and expectations.
  • Prepare the lab environment prior to student arrival and ensure it meets their needs.
  • Demonstrate proper skill techniques and provide immediate feedback to students.
  • Maintain professional attire and behavior while serving as a mentor and role model for students.
  • Follow course guidelines and expectations as outlined in the syllabus.
  • Notify faculty or Program Director of any issues or student absences.

Requirements

  • Valid license to practice as an EMT-Paramedic or EMT-Advanced in Oklahoma.
  • Minimum of two years of clinical and/or field experience at the current license level.
  • Demonstrated positive human relations and communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office or similar software.
  • Flexible teaching style to accommodate individual learning styles.
  • Commitment to helping students achieve their educational goals.
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate with colleagues.
  • Ability to communicate concepts clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to interact effectively with students in both individual and group settings.
