About the position

The Clinical Documentation Liaison at Florida Medical Center is responsible for reviewing ER patients to determine if they meet criteria for observation or inpatient admission. This role involves utilizing AI tools for predictive analysis and InterQual criteria, while maintaining strong relationships with hospital staff and ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Performing all Initial Inpatient Admission and admit for Observation Status Reviews using MEDITECH documentation and InterQual criteria.
  • Advising Hospitalists or Admitting Physicians of patient outcomes and setting future reviews.
  • Communicating with physicians and clinicians regarding orders and documentation related to patient status.
  • Supporting hospital goals and objectives while adhering to regulatory compliance guidelines.
  • Conducting care navigation activities such as scheduling follow-up appointments and diagnostic testing for patients not requiring admission.
  • Referring cases to Case Managers for discharge planning as needed.

Requirements

  • Valid RN License or equivalent healthcare training and/or licensure in a medical field.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or currently enrolled in a BA/BS program aspiring to work in the medical field.
  • Experience in patient observation and understanding of admission review criteria (InterQual, MCG).
  • Ability to navigate technology in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred due to location.
  • Experience with electronic medical records and clinical documentation systems.
