About the position

The EMS Modeler position is focused on supporting the Energy Management System (EMS) and Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) applications, ensuring their effective operation for multiple operating companies. The role involves modeling transmission and distribution sites, managing SCADA systems, and collaborating with engineering teams to maintain and troubleshoot real-time data systems. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while also being part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Model transmission and distribution sites including distributed generation resources.
  • Develop and maintain SCADA/ADMS/EMS one line and other displays.
  • Manage incoming requests and outgoing work for improvements, additions, or corrections to the EMS/ADMS.
  • Maintain ICCP tags/Object IDs, data parameters, and mapping to relevant SCADA or Network Applications.
  • Manage ICCP permissions/access for transmission and generation companies to telemetry as needed for new or retired equipment.
  • Work with external companies to test data points.
  • Use a staging/QA system to verify the accuracy, quality, and reliability of data before production.
  • Propose and implement methods to drive higher quality control of SCADA/Network modeling.
  • Take reasonable 24x7 on-call shifts to support EMS Support's mission-critical business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Power Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar engineering degree, or equivalent work experience.
  • 6 years of experience with energy management systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to anticipate customer needs.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn and take direction from team leads or senior resources.
  • Self-motivated and determined when interactive guidance is not available.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with GE e-terra source software.
  • Experience with real-time systems, real-time architectures, and databases.
