About the position

MU Health Care is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to join our team in the Children's Transport department. This full-time position involves working 12-hour shifts, where the ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong ability to assess and respond to medical emergencies swiftly and effectively. The EMT will be responsible for providing excellent patient care, performing Basic Life Support (BLS) procedures, and utilizing medical equipment proficiently. The role requires meticulous attention to detail, reliability, and a passion for maintaining the readiness of emergency vehicles while working seamlessly within the local EMS system. As an EMT, you will support paramedic partners and handle Advanced Life Support (ALS) equipment with confidence. Your commitment to accurate report writing and maintaining all required licenses and certifications will ensure the highest quality of care for our patients. The position also involves obtaining patient medical histories, performing physical assessments, and administering patient care according to University Ambulance protocols. You will be expected to maintain the ambulance's readiness, operate emergency vehicles safely, and assist paramedics with ALS equipment. Responsibilities

  • Obtain patient medical history and perform physical assessments to determine patient condition.
  • Administer patient care according to University Ambulance protocols for BLS care.
  • Maintain ambulance readiness, ensuring vehicles are stocked and cleaned.
  • Operate emergency vehicles safely and effectively within the local EMS system.
  • Assist paramedic partners with Advanced Life Support (ALS) equipment.
  • Prepare written reports documenting ambulance calls, patient conditions, and care given.
  • Ensure all required licenses and certifications are maintained without lapsing.

Requirements

  • EMT licensure by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS).
  • Chauffeur driver license; class E or higher for Missouri residents.
  • Successful completion of the 40-hour EMT-Dispatching or comparable course within one year of hiring may be necessary for some positions.
  • High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
