About the position

The EMT - Emergency Services position at LifePoint Health involves providing critical emergency medical care to patients in a fast-paced environment. The role requires assessing patients' conditions, administering necessary medical interventions, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients for information necessary for pre-registration.
• Inputs information and obtains patient ID bracelet.
• Identifies acute injury or illness that poses an immediate risk to a person's life or long-term health.
• Performs vital sign checks as needed.
• Assesses patients in the waiting room as necessary.
• Determines nature and extent of illness or injury and patient's history from available sources.
• Administers emergency medical care within scope of practice, including patient stabilization, monitoring, and resuscitation.
• Contacts medical personnel, reports/records observations, and follows directives from supervising Physician or Registered Nurse.
• Interviews patients and/or caregivers to collect information regarding current home medications.
• Utilizes appropriate equipment/accessories to collect information from outside sources regarding home medications.
• Contacts and communicates with other care providers to facilitate the processing of home medication information.
• Processes medication orders under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• One year experience as an EMT1 required.
• EMT1 licensure or above required.
• American Heart Association (AHA) BLS required.
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
