About the position

Superior Air-Ground Ambulance Service, Inc. is seeking dedicated Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) to join our team in various locations across Illinois, including Elmhurst, Oak Lawn, Markham, Chicago, Des Plaines, Green Oaks, Schaumburg, Aurora, Elgin, Cary, Joliet, Evanston, Rockford, and Grayslake. Since our inception in 1959, we have grown to become the largest independent, locally owned, and operated emergency medical services provider in the Midwest, employing over 2,500 licensed EMTs, Paramedics, and Nurses. Our fleet consists of more than 500 ambulances, providing critical care, helicopter, and fixed-wing emergency medical transportation across Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin. As an EMT at Superior, you will play a crucial role in providing safe transportation and quality medical care to sick and injured individuals, adhering to state EMS regulations. Your responsibilities will include assessing patients, conveying their conditions to medical professionals, and ensuring accurate documentation of medical history and treatment provided. You will also be responsible for maintaining the ambulance in a sanitary condition and monitoring all necessary vehicle fluid levels and gauges. This position requires a commitment to delivering the highest quality care in both emergency and scheduled medical transport situations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide appropriate patient care as stipulated in their training as an EMT.
  • Provide safe transportation, including accurately discerning street names through map reading and correctly distinguishing house numbers and business addresses.
  • Appropriately assess a patient and accurately convey the condition to other medical professionals.
  • Provide an accurate written report describing a patient's condition, medical history, and the treatment provided.
  • Provide appropriate documentation for billing information.
  • Maintain the vehicle in sanitary condition, monitoring all fluid levels and gauges.

Requirements

  • NREMT (National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians) or current state license (or pending).
  • Ability to provide medical care at the EMT or Paramedic level while safely transporting patients.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Pass a pre-employment interview including a physical and lifting examination, drug screen, and background check.
  • Attend company provided training and driving course.
