About the position
The Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic is responsible for the daily operations of the Carteret Health Care Ambulance Service, providing critical emergency medical services and ensuring the safety and well-being of patients during transport. This role requires a high level of expertise in emergency medical techniques and the ability to respond effectively in various environments, including hospital settings and ambulance transports.
Responsibilities
- Perform emergency medical services as required during ambulance operations.
- Ensure the safe transport of patients to medical facilities.
- Maintain and operate ambulance equipment and vehicles in compliance with safety standards.
- Assist in the training and supervision of junior EMT staff as needed.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with EMS practices and protocols.
Requirements
- Current certification as an Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic in the State of North Carolina.
- Approval to function at the EMT-Paramedic level in Carteret County by the Carteret County ALS Medical Director.
- Valid North Carolina driver's license with a safe driving record.
- Knowledge of current trends and techniques in Emergency Medical Services.
- BLS Healthcare Provider Certification.
- Completion of EVOC or EVD course.
- ACLS, ITLS, or PHTLS certification must be obtained within one year of hire.
Nice-to-haves
- PEPP or PALS certification.
