About the position

The EMT Program Coordinator at Hackensack Meridian Health plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality and consistency of all EMT basic and refresher programs. This full-time position is based in Edison, New Jersey, and reports directly to the Program Director. The Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the activities of the Lead Instructor, Instructor, and Instructor Aide, ensuring that all educational content meets the required standards and is delivered effectively. This role involves collaboration with the Program Director and subject matter experts to design courses, monitor program delivery, and implement quality improvement initiatives. The Coordinator will also be involved in the evaluation of instructional methods and the overall effectiveness of the training programs offered. In addition to managing the instructional staff, the EMT Program Coordinator will be expected to maintain a strong understanding of the delivery of emergency medical services in New Jersey, including the relevant rules and regulations set forth by the State Office of EMS. The position requires a commitment to adult learning principles and the ability to facilitate educational experiences that meet the needs of diverse learners. The Coordinator will also be responsible for ensuring that the programs adhere to accreditation processes and standards, thereby contributing to the overall mission of Hackensack Meridian Health to transform healthcare and serve the community effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the activities of the Lead Instructor, Instructor, and Instructor Aide to ensure content consistency in EMT programs.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director and subject matter experts on course design and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor the delivery of EMT basic and refresher programs to ensure compliance with state regulations and accreditation standards.
  • Evaluate instructional methods and provide feedback to instructors to enhance teaching effectiveness.
  • Maintain knowledge of emergency medical services delivery in New Jersey and relevant rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent programs.
  • At least two years of EMS experience directly related to the duties specified.
  • Successful completion of an approved EMS instructor course and teaching internship or equivalent.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and customer service orientation.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory and methodologies, as well as EMS educational program accreditation processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • New Jersey Emergency Medical Technician-Instructor for three years.
  • Affiliated with a Hackensack Meridian EMT training program for at least 24 months.
  • Understanding of NJ Department of Health administrative rules for NJ EMT programs.
