The EMT Trainee position at American Ambulance Service is designed for individuals looking to start a career in Emergency Medical Services (EMS). This full-time role involves participating in the Community Emergency Responder Academy (CERA), where trainees will undergo a comprehensive 7-week training program that includes classroom instruction, practical laboratory work, and hands-on ambulance ride time. Trainees will earn a training wage while completing the program and will be prepared to take the National Registry examination for EMT certification, leading to full-time employment as an EMT upon successful completion.

Responsibilities

  • Complete a 7-week training program in the Community Emergency Responder Academy (CERA).
  • Participate in classroom instruction and practical laboratory stations.
  • Gain hands-on experience through ambulance ride time.
  • Prepare for and take the National Registry examination for EMT certification.
  • Obtain and maintain State of Connecticut EMT Certification after eligibility to test.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid Driver's License with an excellent driving record.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to obtain American Heart Association CPR Certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain State of Connecticut EMT Certification within 45 days of eligibility to test.
