About the position
The EMT Transport Crewmember position at the City of Sierra Vista Fire & Medical Services involves performing emergency medical services (EMS) duties, primarily focused on 911 emergency responses and non-emergency local transports. The role requires working in various shifts, typically on a 48 hours on, 120 hours off schedule, and includes responsibilities such as providing medical care, maintaining equipment, and participating in public education events.
Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance of the fire station along with other crew members.
- Check tools, equipment, supplies, and materials of each ambulance to ensure proper operating condition.
- Perform a variety of emergency medical activities at fire, accident, hazardous material, or other emergency situations as a certified emergency medical care technician (EMCT).
- Initiate pre-hospital medical care to individuals.
- Provide basic life support and assist paramedic personnel, or provide advanced life support if certified as a paramedic, at emergency scenes.
- Participate in public education/information events, such as station tours or group presentations.
- Participate in regular training/drills.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Arizona EMCT certifications.
- Healthcare provider CPR certification.
- Valid Arizona driver's license.

- Knowledge of streets, addresses, and locations throughout the city of Sierra Vista and Fort Huachuca.
- Familiarity with neighboring communities and surrounding areas.
- Knowledge of applicable state, federal, and local statutes, codes, and ordinances.
