About the position

The AEMT (Advanced Emergency Medical Technician) at CHI Memorial Hospital is responsible for delivering emergency medical care and transport to patients in accordance with established protocols and guidelines. This role involves working under the supervision of the Medical Director and ensuring that all patient care is documented accurately. The AEMT must maintain equipment readiness and cleanliness, attend required educational sessions, and ensure compliance with licensure requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide emergency medical treatment and transport to the sick and injured in accordance with applicable laws and department protocols.
  • Document all patient care performed using the approved Patient Care Report program.
  • Complete and submit all required paperwork by the end of the shift.
  • Ensure equipment is ready and clean at the beginning of each shift and that the ambulance is fully stocked.
  • Report any deficiencies or mechanical issues with supplies, equipment, or vehicles to a supervisor promptly.
  • Restock the unit as necessary.
  • Attend required education sessions as deemed necessary by the Director or Medical Director.
  • Maintain licensure and ensure completion of required education for renewal.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Graduate of an accredited school for EMS Education to the AEMT Level.
  • Tennessee AEMT license or Georgia AEMT license (must become dual state licensed within 12 months of hire).
  • American Heart Association - BLS Health Care Provider certification.
  • Valid State Driver's License (with 'F' endorsement if TN license).
  • Pediatric certification (AHA - PALS or AAP - PEPP) required within 6 months of hire.
  • Trauma certification (ITLS or PHTLS) required within 6 months of hire.
  • Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) or Certified Emergency Vehicle Operator (CEVO) certification.
