About the position
The Endoscopy Technician position requires an experienced individual to support patient care in a fast-paced environment. The technician will be responsible for patient transport, assisting with procedures, ensuring patient safety during electrocautery procedures, and handling lab specimens. The role also involves cleaning and decontaminating endoscopes according to SGNA standards, performing high-level disinfection, and maintaining equipment. The technician will work PRN hours, with a minimum of 3 shifts required in a 4-week schedule, including on-call shifts during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities
- Provides efficient patient transport to, within and from the unit.
- Assists with positioning of patients and basic patient care during procedures.
- Ensures patient safety during electrocautery procedures.
- Handles lab specimens properly and assists in their collection and transportation.
- Assists with procedures under the guidance of the registered nurse.
- Sets up rooms and equipment in preparation for the patient.
- Communicates pertinent information to the RN/Charge Nurse/Manager/Physician.
- Assists in pre and post-procedure care of the patient under the guidance of a registered nurse.
- Initiates or collaborates with the team for all safety initiatives.
- Cleans and decontaminates endoscopes according to SGNA standards.
- Performs high-level disinfection safely and effectively.
- Tests and validates equipment functionality.
- Maintains inventory for the unit and performs other assigned duties.
Requirements
- High school education or equivalent minimum.
- 1 year related patient care experience preferred.
- Current CPR certification.
- Knowledge of computer keyboard preferred.
- Good communication, organizational, and interpersonal/customer service skills.
- Basic computer skills.
