About the position

The Endoscopic Technician at Providence St. Joseph Health plays a crucial role in supporting the Gastroenterology Endoscopic unit by preparing and maintaining endoscopic equipment, ensuring proper sterilization and infection control practices, and assisting in endoscopic procedures. This position is vital for the smooth operation of the unit and requires adherence to quality assurance activities related to equipment handling and patient safety.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare all equipment for endoscopic procedures.
  • Clean equipment properly using appropriate protocols and procedures.
  • Prepare equipment for repair and track repairs.
  • Assist in all endoscopic procedures for the proper operation of the Gastroenterology Endoscopic unit.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of principles and practices of aseptic techniques.
  • Participate in all quality assurance activities related to infection control and disinfection/sterilization of endoscopic equipment.

Requirements

  • Washington Medical Assistant Certification upon hire.
  • Washington Nursing Assistant Certification License upon hire, or Washington Surgical Technologist Registration upon hire, or National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire.
  • Within 1 year of hire: National Certified Endoscope Reprocessor - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association or National Flexible Endoscope Reprocessors - Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution.
  • 1 year of previous experience in scope processing, scheduling procedures, computer data entry, and assisting in the procedure room.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2 years of previous experience in scope processing, scheduling procedures, computer data entry, and assisting in the procedure room.
