About the position

The Endoscopy Technician at Swedish Issaquah is responsible for a variety of tasks related to Gastroenterology activities, including scheduling procedures, performing data entry for studies, and assisting in the procedure room. This multi-tasking role involves cleaning and disinfecting scopes, preparing equipment for sterilization, maintaining supplies, and assisting nurses with patient admissions. The technician must have basic knowledge of equipment troubleshooting and infection control procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule endoscopic procedures and perform data entry for studies.
  • Clean and disinfect scopes and prepare equipment for sterilization.
  • Maintain disinfection logs and supplies for procedure rooms.
  • Assist nurses with patient admissions to the procedure room.
  • Set up the procedure room and track equipment repairs.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and multi-tasking skills in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Surgical Technology, Anesthesia Technologist, Certified Nurse Assistant, or Medical Assistant program.
  • Washington Medical Assistant Certification, Nursing Assistant Certification License, or Surgical Technologist Registration upon hire.
  • National Provider BLS certification upon hire.
  • National Certified Endoscope Reprocessor or National Flexible Endoscope Reprocessors certification within 1 year of hire.
  • One year of experience in a medical setting as a Surgical Technologist, Anesthesia Technologist, Nursing Assistant, or Certified Medical Assistant required.
  • Knowledge of infection control procedures and types of microorganisms.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completion of 12 months of full-time employment or equivalent part-time hours processing flexible endoscopes preferred.
  • Knowledge of scopes and accessories for endoscopic procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedure manuals.
