About the position

The Endoscopy Technician is a multi-tasking role responsible for scheduling procedures, performing data entry for ph studies, and assisting in the procedure room. This position involves various gastroenterology activities, including cleaning and disinfecting scopes, preparing equipment for sterilization, and maintaining necessary supplies for procedure rooms. The technician also assists nurses with patient admissions and has basic troubleshooting knowledge of equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule procedures and perform computer data entry for ph studies.
  • Assist in the procedure room and support nurses with patient admissions.
  • Clean and disinfect scopes and prepare equipment for sterilization.
  • Maintain disinfection logs and track repairs of scopes.
  • Set up procedure rooms and maintain supplies for clean and dirty utility rooms.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and multi-tasking skills essential for the role.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Surgical Technology, Anesthesia Technologist, Certified Nurse Assistant, or Medical Assistant program.
  • Washington Medical Assistant Certification or Nursing Assistant Certification License upon hire.
  • National Provider BLS certification upon hire.
  • National Certified Endoscope Reprocessor or National Flexible Endoscope Reprocessors certification within 1 year of hire.
  • One year of experience in a medical setting as a Surgical Technologist, Anesthesia Technologist, Nursing Assistant, or Certified Medical Assistant required.
  • Knowledge of infection control procedures and types of microorganisms preferred.
  • Basic computer skills, including data entry, are required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completion of 12 months of full-time employment or equivalent part-time hours processing flexible endoscopes preferred.
  • Knowledge of scopes and accessories for endoscopic procedures preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedure manuals.
