About the position

The Endoscopic Technician plays a crucial role in providing patient care within the endoscopy unit by optimizing operations and ensuring high-quality care. This position involves collaboration with nursing staff and other departments to coordinate patient care, adherence to professional standards, and participation in performance improvement activities. The technician is also responsible for educating staff and maintaining financial responsibility within the unit's budget.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate and collaborate with RN and other multidisciplinary departments to coordinate appropriate care for endoscopy patients.
  • Follow all relevant specialty, federal requirements, and hospital policies and procedures when caring for patients.
  • Participate in unit and hospital-wide Performance Improvement activities.
  • Provide direction and collaborate with team members to support a healthy work environment.
  • Educate and serve as a resource for other staff members, students, and new orientees.
  • Pursue lifelong education to stay current on professional changes and best practices for Endoscopy.
  • Represent the Endoscopy profession in the community beyond the hospital.
  • Maintain responsibility for FTE hours and financial accountability within the unit's budget.
  • Communicate any issues with equipment and supplies to the shift coordinator.
  • Actively participate in the Unit Base Council.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate
  • Basic Life Support certification
  • Previous hospital or healthcare experience
  • Clinical experience
