About the position
The Endoscopy Technician at Swedish Issaquah is responsible for a variety of tasks related to Gastroenterology activities, including scheduling procedures, performing data entry for ph studies, and assisting in the procedure room. This multi-tasking role requires knowledge of equipment, infection control procedures, and the ability to maintain disinfection logs and supplies for procedure rooms. The technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of endoscopic procedures and patient care.
Responsibilities
- Schedule procedures and perform computer data entry for ph studies.
- Assist in the procedure room and support the nursing staff with patient admissions.
- Clean and disinfect scopes and prepare equipment for sterilization.
- Maintain disinfection logs and track repairs of scopes.
- Set up procedure rooms and maintain supplies for dirty and clean utility rooms.
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of equipment for troubleshooting problems.
Requirements
- Completion of a Surgical Technology, Anesthesia Technologist, Certified Nurse Assistant, or Medical Assistant program.
- Washington Medical Assistant Certification, Nursing Assistant Certification License, or Surgical Technologist Registration upon hire.
- National Provider BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire.
- National Certified Endoscope Reprocessor or National Flexible Endoscope Reprocessors certification within 1 year of hire.
- One year of experience in a medical setting as a Surgical Technologist, Anesthesia Technologist, Nursing Assistant, or Certified Medical Assistant required.
- Knowledge of infection control procedures and types of microorganisms.
Nice-to-haves
- Completion of 12 months of full-time employment or equivalent part-time hours processing flexible endoscopes preferred.
- Knowledge of scopes and accessories for endoscopic procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedure manuals.
