About the position

The Endoscopy Technician at Swedish Issaquah is responsible for a variety of tasks related to Gastroenterology activities, including scheduling procedures, performing data entry for ph studies, and assisting in the procedure room. This multi-tasking role requires knowledge of equipment, infection control procedures, and the ability to maintain disinfection logs and supplies for procedure rooms. The technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of endoscopic procedures and patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule procedures and perform computer data entry for ph studies.
  • Assist in the procedure room and support the nursing staff with patient admissions.
  • Clean and disinfect scopes and prepare equipment for sterilization.
  • Maintain disinfection logs and track repairs of scopes.
  • Set up procedure rooms and maintain supplies for dirty and clean utility rooms.
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of equipment for troubleshooting problems.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Surgical Technology, Anesthesia Technologist, Certified Nurse Assistant, or Medical Assistant program.
  • Washington Medical Assistant Certification, Nursing Assistant Certification License, or Surgical Technologist Registration upon hire.
  • National Provider BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire.
  • National Certified Endoscope Reprocessor or National Flexible Endoscope Reprocessors certification within 1 year of hire.
  • One year of experience in a medical setting as a Surgical Technologist, Anesthesia Technologist, Nursing Assistant, or Certified Medical Assistant required.
  • Knowledge of infection control procedures and types of microorganisms.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completion of 12 months of full-time employment or equivalent part-time hours processing flexible endoscopes preferred.
  • Knowledge of scopes and accessories for endoscopic procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedure manuals.
