About the position
The Endoscopy GI Nurse PRN at Austin Endoscopy Center plays a crucial role in providing high-quality nursing care to surgical and GI patients during the intra-operative period. This position involves planning, executing, and evaluating nursing care, ensuring patient safety, and facilitating effective transitions between procedures. The nurse will also perform duties in both circulating and scrub roles, demonstrating expertise in surgical and GI procedures.
Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing process in planning, executing, and evaluating nursing care for surgical and GI patients during the intra-operative period.
- Demonstrate knowledge of surgical and GI procedures and oversee instrument and equipment set-up.
- Coordinate and oversee the operating room during procedures as the circulator.
- Facilitate effective and efficient transitions between procedures.
- Utilize and update preference cards as necessary.
Requirements
- Nursing Diploma
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an operating room setting, preferably in an ambulatory surgery center
- RN license required or appropriate compact licensure
- Valid BCLS Certification upon employment (online certification not acceptable)
- ACLS as required by facility
- CNOR / SGNA certification preferred
