About the position
The Endoscopy Technician II (Endo Tech) at Houston Methodist is responsible for providing high-quality support to gastroenterology providers and the healthcare team. This role involves assisting with GI endoscopy procedures, including preparation, cleaning, and disinfection of endoscopes and equipment. The Endo Tech II is expected to work independently, mentor junior technicians, and communicate effectively with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient care.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and turnaround activities of GI endoscopy procedures.
- Clean and disinfect endoscopes and accessory equipment.
- Anticipate physician needs during endoscopy procedures.
- Mentor and train Endo Tech I's in their roles.
- Maintain an orderly environment and assist in inventory management.
- Communicate potential revisions and process physician preference cards accurately.
- Monitor case progression and contribute to quality and safety targets.
- Utilize resources efficiently and manage time effectively.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent education.
- Three years of experience as an Endoscopy Technician.
- BLS - Basic Life Support certification.
Nice-to-haves
- Proficient knowledge of endoscopy equipment and procedures.
- Experience with advanced ERCP skills including SpyGlass and EHL.
- Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates Certificate (SGNA) within six months of hire.
