About the position

The Activity Director plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals in a Behavior Focused Adult Day Training Program. This position involves developing and implementing engaging activity programs tailored to the unique interests and needs of residents, fostering a creative and supportive environment. The director will collaborate with staff and families to ensure personalized care and promote community engagement through various activities and events.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive activity program tailored to the interests and needs of residents.
  • Schedule and manage daily activities, ensuring a balance of physical, social, and educational opportunities.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to promote participation in activities.
  • Collaborate with caregiving staff to assess individual resident needs and preferences.
  • Organize special events, outings, and celebrations that foster community engagement.
  • Provide guidance and support to volunteers assisting with activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback to continually improve programming.
  • Stay informed about best practices in senior care and incorporate relevant trends into activity planning.
  • Design activities that support behavioral goals and promote positive social interactions.
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate personalized program plans, ensuring they reflect the individual's goals and aspirations.
  • Cultivate a nurturing supportive and inclusive environment that encourages creativity and individuality.
  • Engage individuals in meaningful activities that promote personal growth and independence.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams, including families and support coordinators, to assess needs and adapt strategies accordingly.
  • Cultivate a nurturing environment that embraces creativity and celebrates individuality.
  • Share knowledge and contribute to a collaborative learning environment.
  • Train staff and volunteers on appropriate interaction techniques.
  • Coordinate schedules to ensure adequate support during activities.
  • Provide guidance on behavior management strategies specific to the program.

Requirements

  • Experience in developing program plans, case notes, or relevant documentation.
  • Strong commitment to person-centered planning and fostering independence.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting.
  • Passion for learning, sharing knowledge, and contributing to a supportive work environment.
  • Experience in supporting individuals with diverse abilities preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Patient, compassionate, and respectful demeanor.
  • Must pass level II background check.
  • Associates degree, Bachelor preferred.
