About the position

The Energy Assistance Outreach Advisor at FirstEnergy plays a crucial role in connecting individuals and families with energy assistance programs and resources. This hybrid position involves conducting outreach efforts to educate the community about available programs, assisting partner agencies, and advocating for customers to overcome barriers in accessing these services. The advisor will work closely with community organizations and maintain accurate records to ensure compliance with program regulations.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrating and directing a solid commitment to all aspects of safety
• Supporting Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) by creating an inclusive work environment
• Maintaining integrity in all decisions and actions
• Developing and implementing outreach strategies to raise awareness of available programs
• Working with the community through workshops, presentations, and events
• Providing one-to-one assistance to partner agencies regarding program requirements
• Maintaining accurate records of interactions and outcomes
• Collaborating with community organizations to refer customers to additional support services
• Advocating on behalf of customers to address barriers to accessing energy assistance programs
• Evaluating the effectiveness of outreach efforts
• Coordinating work with other departments when necessary
• Demonstrating sound internal and external customer service
• Building and maintaining positive relationships with other organizations
• Assisting with special projects or assignments as requested

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in social work, public administration or related discipline
• 5 years of relevant work experience
• Ability to speak multiple languages preferred
• Experience working in community outreach, social services, or related field preferred
• Strong analytical skills
