About the position

The Energy Assistance Worker position at the Blair County Assistance Office is a seasonal role designed to assist Pennsylvania citizens in accessing heating assistance through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). This position is ideal for individuals with strong communication skills who are eager to make a difference in their community by helping those in need during the winter months. The role typically spans from October to April, although it may begin as early as September and can last until June, depending on operational needs. As an Energy Assistance Worker, you will be responsible for processing initial benefit applications and crisis applications for LIHEAP. This includes interviewing clients to gather necessary information, acting as a liaison with heating vendors, and reviewing applications to recommend approval or disapproval of benefits in accordance with federal and state regulations. The majority of your work will involve data entry and application processing, which will be performed under the close supervision of an Income Maintenance Casework Supervisor. This supervisor will review your work for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to program regulations. The position offers a supportive team environment where you will receive extensive training to equip you with the skills needed to perform your duties effectively. You will work full-time hours from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with a 60-minute lunch break. Overtime and travel may be required as needed, and while shift work is not expected, reassignment to different work sites may occur based on operational needs. Requirements
