The Energy Assistance Worker position at the Huntingdon County Assistance Office is a seasonal role aimed at assisting Pennsylvania citizens in accessing benefits through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). This position is crucial during the fall and winter months, typically running from October to April, with the possibility of starting as early as September and extending until June. The role involves processing initial benefit applications and crisis applications for LIHEAP, ensuring that clients receive the necessary support to stay warm during the winter season. As an Energy Assistance Worker, you will engage in a variety of tasks including interviewing clients to gather necessary information, acting as a liaison with heating vendors, and reviewing applications to recommend approval or disapproval of benefits in accordance with federal and state regulations. The majority of your work will involve data entry and application processing, which will be performed under the close supervision of an Income Maintenance Casework Supervisor. This supervisor will review your work for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to program regulations. The position offers a supportive team environment where you can make a significant impact on the lives of those in need. Extensive training will be provided to equip you with the skills necessary to perform your duties effectively. The work schedule is full-time, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch break. Overtime and travel may be required based on operational needs.
