About the position

The Energy Center HVAC/R Engineer B position at University Health Lakewood involves operating and maintaining mechanical systems within the physical plant. This role is crucial for ensuring the efficient generation of steam, provision of chilled water, and generation of emergency power, utilizing various equipment such as boilers, chillers, and refrigeration systems. The position requires working the 3rd shift from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, contributing to the overall functionality of the healthcare facility's infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain mechanical systems in the physical plant.
  • Generate steam or monitor steam supplied by utility.
  • Provide chilled water and generate emergency power.
  • Maintain and operate air handlers and refrigeration equipment.
  • Utilize equipment including boilers, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, compressors, and emergency generators.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be a member of a local union.
  • Knowledge of standard practices, materials, tools, equipment, processes, and techniques of the trade.
  • Ability to work from written and oral instructions, read diagrams and blueprints, and maintain standard records.
  • Kansas City Operator Engineer Contractor Certification.
  • EPA Section 608 Universal Technician Certification.

Nice-to-haves
