About the position

The Energy Center HVAC/R Engineer B position at University Health involves operating and maintaining mechanical systems within the physical plant, focusing on generating steam, providing chilled water, and ensuring emergency power generation. This role is critical in supporting the hospital's infrastructure and ensuring the efficient operation of HVAC and refrigeration systems.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain mechanical systems in the physical plant, including generating steam and monitoring steam supplied by utility.
  • Provide chilled water and generate emergency power as needed.
  • Maintain and operate air handlers and refrigeration equipment.
  • Work with equipment such as boilers, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, compressors, and emergency generators.
  • Follow written and oral instructions, read diagrams and blueprints, and maintain standard records.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be a member of a local union.
  • Knowledge of standard practices, materials, tools, equipment, processes, and techniques of the trade, including the use of torch and welder.
  • Ability to work from written and oral instructions and read diagrams and blueprints.
  • Ability to meet driving requirements specified in the Fleet Driving Safety and Compliance Policy.

Nice-to-haves
