About the position

The Energy Center Technician is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all Energy Center equipment, including steam generation systems and chillers. This role requires a high level of technical knowledge and the ability to work independently without supervision. The technician ensures the proper functioning of various mechanical systems critical to healthcare operations.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain all Energy Center equipment including boilers, de-aerator tanks, and feed water pumps.
• Manage the operation of chillers, chilled water pumps, and controls.
• Oversee condenser cooling towers and all associated valves and controls.
• Maintain emergency generators, medical air compressors, and medical vacuum pumps.
• Conduct proper water treatment testing and procedures for chilled water and steam generating equipment.
• Utilize building automation/energy management and fire alarm monitoring/control systems.

Requirements

• Three (3) years of power plant experience, preferably in large plant operations.
• Knowledge of proper water treatment testing and procedures for chilled water and steam generating equipment.
• Ability to read and understand prints/diagrams for buildings and equipment.
• Experience in performing minor repairs and maintenance in plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, and general maintenance without supervision.
• Familiarity with computers and related software (Windows Operating Systems).
• Proficiency in written and verbal communication.

Nice-to-haves

• Working knowledge and understanding of multiple skilled trades relevant to the healthcare industry.
• Ability to fit pipe, both copper and black iron (welding experience).
• Familiarity with codes applicable to the field and industry.
• Working knowledge of hand tools pertinent to trade(s).
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Working knowledge of high pressure steam boilers, centrifugal chillers, pumps, compressors, and related plant equipment.
