About the position

The Associate Chemical Engineer in the Energy Compliance Services (ECS) team at Weaver is responsible for supporting clients in navigating compliance with environmental regulations and enhancing sustainability practices. This role involves preparing and reviewing technical documentation related to renewable fuel projects, conducting on-site inspections, and collaborating with senior engineers on various projects. The position emphasizes professional growth and the development of a deep understanding of process technologies and regulatory frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an understanding of process technologies and regulations related to the ECS practice.
  • Prepare, review, and document technical aspects of client renewable fuel projects.
  • Join senior colleagues for on-site inspections at client facilities.
  • Prepare mass and energy balance calculations.
  • Draft engineering review reports.
  • Contribute to multiple project types and client initiatives under the guidance of more experienced engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited University.
  • Grade point average of 3.3 or higher.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to a fluid working environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Light experience in the chemical engineering field through an internship or entry-level position.
  • Currently holds or working towards an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience in performing mass and energy balance calculations.
  • Experience in interpreting and preparing block flow diagrams (BFDs), process flow diagrams (PFDs), and process descriptions.
  • Participation in professional and/or civic organizations such as AIChE, SWE, SHPE, SASE, and NSBE.
