About the position

Our Energy Engineering Graduate Training Program is designed for recent graduates eager to embark on a rewarding career in Energy Engineering. This 15-week rotational program offers participants the opportunity to learn from industry experts while gaining hands-on experience in various company locations. Throughout the program, you will engage in practical learning experiences, hear about real-world projects from Trane leaders, and complete meaningful assignments that will prepare you for a full-time role as an Energy Engineer. As part of the program, you will develop a comprehensive skill set that includes analyzing utility company rate structures, conducting energy audits, and providing insights into energy use and building operations. You will also learn to identify energy conservation measures across various facilities, including commercial, institutional, and industrial environments. The program emphasizes ethical and professional standards, ensuring that you are well-equipped to thrive in your future role. Upon successful completion of the training program, you will transition into the role of an Energy Engineer, where you will be responsible for converting data into actionable insights that help clients optimize their facilities. This position is not only about technical expertise but also about becoming a trusted advisor to our clients, helping them achieve their sustainability goals and improve operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to multiple company locations for practical, in-person learning experiences related to Energy Engineering.
  • Analyze and assess the economic impacts of utility company rate structures and supply side options.
  • Qualify client opportunities and layout preliminary and detailed audit scope analysis.
  • Perform building walk-throughs to identify energy conservation measures in various facilities.
  • Assist with energy simulation models utilizing HVAC principles and understanding utility business operations.
  • Provide routine consultations to clients regarding energy use, building operations, and technical support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably in Energy, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • U.S. citizenship or legal right to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship.
  • Valid driver's license for a minimum of 12 months with proof of insurance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with energy simulation models and HVAC principles.
  • Familiarity with utility business operations and consultative selling.
