Solid Power is seeking a Cell Technology Integration Engineer to join our talented team working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next-generation, all solid-state rechargeable batteries. This position is based in Louisville, CO, and offers a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative team environment. The successful candidate will work closely with the R&D, Cell Engineering, and Electrolyte Technologies teams to rapidly scale leading-edge designs, formulations, and electrolytes from coin cells to EV-scale battery formats. An ideal candidate will possess a fundamental understanding of solid-state batteries, demonstrate the electrochemical expertise necessary to interpret complex battery data, and apply engineering principles to advance key technologies for viability in large-capacity formats. In this role, you will analyze electrochemical data for cell recipes across size formats to understand scale-up hurdles. You will design processing or formulation modifications to facilitate scale-up by improving slurries, interfaces, and mechanical properties. The position requires you to clearly articulate proposals to internal stakeholders and then perform or oversee necessary experiments. Troubleshooting process issues and implementing corrective actions to address deviations or failures will also be part of your responsibilities. You will assemble and test solid-state cells, perform materials characterization, and conduct post-mortem analysis. Collaboration with other departments and team members to explore new ideas and develop experimental plans is essential. You will plan and execute Design of Experiments (DOE) independently and determine the importance of multiple factors and parameters. Mentoring junior team members and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and learning will be expected. Additionally, you will use the company's document and change control system to properly archive technical documentation and maintain general lab safety and daily work cleanliness. Screening and modifying novel solvent and binder materials will also be part of your duties.
