About the position

The Energy Supply Project Engineer position at Xcel Energy is an entry-level role aimed at developing technical expertise in engineering. The engineer will work under supervision, performing tasks that involve conventional plans, investigations, and equipment with limited complexity. The role includes leading small to medium projects and providing field oversight for critical projects, while also supporting various engineering activities and documentation development.

Responsibilities

• Uses and applies technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to perform activities/assignments of limited scope.
• Supports the development of technical documentation including designs, testing, calculations, and reports.
• Provides ongoing technical support for project activities within areas such as Operations, Maintenance, and Testing/diagnostics.
• Coordinates/leads projects or portions of projects under the direction of a higher-level engineer or supervisor.
• Supports bid/evaluation processes by performing basic analysis and calculations on existing documentation and materials.
• Effectively exchanges information on matters of importance and complexity with internal and external stakeholders.
• May coordinate the work of interns, drafters, technicians, and provide guidance to less experienced engineers.
• Performs activities such as budgeting, estimating, and work order management in support of engineering projects.

Requirements

• Required bachelor's degree in engineering from ABET accredited curriculum (or recognized equivalency).
• 0+ years relevant engineering experience.
• Ability to demonstrate unique technical skills and core competencies for this engineering level.

Nice-to-haves

• EIT/FE (Engineer in Training/Fundamentals of Engineering) preferred.
