About the position

The Energy Technical Account Manager at Wood is responsible for driving business growth and ensuring the delivery of Automation and Controls projects across the Upstream, Midstream, and Renewables sectors in the Americas. This role involves maintaining strong client relationships, overseeing project performance, and collaborating with various teams to meet strategic objectives. The position is based in Deer Park or Houston, TX, and requires regular travel throughout the region.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and guides the growth, development, and delivery performance across projects in assigned customer contracts within the Energy sector.
  • Ensures project teams are working to the highest possible standards of integrity, safety, quality, and performance excellence.
  • Works with functional managers and project managers to ensure customer projects are appropriately staffed, influencing key hiring as needed.
  • Develops and delivers business plans in support of Energy business growth, in line with Wood's strategy.
  • Maximizes long-term customer relationships and commercial returns by positioning Wood for contract extensions and renewals.
  • Consults on solutions to strategic, contractual, technical, commercial, operational, and personnel-related challenges impacting customer service and performance.
  • Maintains operational integrity and excellence, tracking and reporting on performance metrics and steering improvements.
  • Proactively drives collaboration with other Business Managers and Sub-Business Groups in Digital Consulting, Projects, and the broader Wood organization.
  • Maintains relationships with strategic/key clients and execution partners, supporting the development of new relationships in line with Wood's strategy.

Requirements

  • University Degree (bachelors or masters) in relevant discipline or equivalent combination of qualifications and experience.
  • Minimum 10 years in a technical/project delivery role in automation & systems integration, preferably in Upstream, Midstream, or Renewables.
  • Minimum 5 years in commercial/business development/customer account management.
  • Strong technical background with proven commercial/business development experience.
  • Broad and deep understanding of the applicable industry and strong networking and relationship-building capability.
  • Proven experience of building and maintaining key client relationships or end-market growth.
  • Strong team-building skills; motivating people and enabling cross-functional best practices.
  • Ability to influence and challenge others to behave in ways consistent with the organization's interests.
  • Experience with automation including DCS, SIS, HMI, and project detailed design work.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with PLC platforms (Allen Bradley) and SCADA is beneficial but not required.
