About the position

In this role, you will perform technical tasks within a biohazard laboratory setting to analyze and test the electro-mechanical functionality of West drug-delivery devices. This position is crucial in ensuring the safety and effectiveness of our medical devices, which play a vital role in patient care. You will utilize critical thinking skills to analyze field failures, identify root causes, and document your findings according to established procedures. Your work will involve using various software tools, including Salesforce, MasterControl, and the Microsoft Office Suite, to manage investigations and document results effectively. You will be responsible for complying with site and enterprise safety procedures when handling biohazard materials and potent drug compounds. Strong technical writing skills are essential, as you will need to communicate your findings in a clear and concise manner. Proficiency in laboratory test equipment operation and maintenance is required, including but not limited to Instron, CT scanners, oscilloscopes, power supplies, multi-meters, analytical balances, and microscopes. Familiarity with root cause analysis methodologies will be beneficial in assessing technical problems and ensuring quality outcomes. Your role will also involve identifying and resolving potential safety hazards, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and exercising creativity in developing new testing and debugging methods. You will take immediate action upon identifying critical product issues and assist with corrective actions as necessary. A customer service approach is expected in all activities, and you will facilitate teamwork and collaboration between departments to maximize processes and resolve problems efficiently. Adaptability to changes in priorities is essential, as is the ability to work independently to investigate complaints. You may also be asked to support product sample builds and testing in the R&D lab, along with other duties as assigned based on business needs. Regular, reliable, punctual, and predictable attendance is required to meet the demands of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze field failures to identify root causes and document findings per procedures.
  • Use software tools (Salesforce, MasterControl, Microsoft Office Suite) to document and manage investigations.
  • Comply with site and enterprise safety procedures when handling biohazard materials/components and potent drug compounds.
  • Communicate findings in a technical, concise, and effective manner using strong technical writing skills.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory test equipment including Instron, CT scanner, oscilloscope, power supply, multi-meter, analytical balance, and microscopes.
  • Utilize a variety of root cause analysis methodologies to assess technical problems.
  • Identify and resolve potential safety hazards while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Develop new test/debugging methods creatively.
  • Take immediate action after identifying critical product issues and assist with corrective actions when necessary.
  • Demonstrate a customer service approach to all activities and assignments.
  • Facilitate teamwork, cross-training, and collaboration between departments to maximize processes and resolve problems.
  • Focus on quality, timeliness, and continuous improvement.
  • Adapt to changes in priorities and work independently to investigate complaints.
  • Support product sample builds and testing in the R&D lab as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of High School or equivalent education.
  • 0-3 years of experience in a relevant field.
  • Proficiency in laboratory test equipment operation and maintenance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associates Degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Basic electronic training (AET or military).
  • Preferred technical experience in analysis of electro-mechanical medical devices.
  • Awareness of all relevant SOPs as per Company policy related to the position.
