About the position

The Engagement Associate is responsible for developing and coordinating activity programs that cater to the diverse interests of residents in a senior living community. This role aims to provide meaningful and enriching activities that encompass physical, social, intellectual, and artistic facets of individuals' lives, both within and outside the community.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the mission, core values, and goals of the organization, upholding and promoting company culture and vision.
  • Completes all hours of state mandated continuing education each year.
  • Promotes and displays a spirit of teamwork in performance of daily duties through cooperative interactions with co-workers and other departments.
  • Supports a positive and professional image through actions and dress.
  • Promotes the property in a positive manner and effectively communicates the organization's values to residents, visitors, co-workers, and the community.
  • Communicates with department supervisors of activity programs and upcoming events.
  • Creates a daily/monthly activity calendar that reflects the varied interests of the residents and provides them with the dates, time, and location of programs and logs attendance.
  • Coordinates and hosts all special events, including holiday events.
  • Decorates the community according to current holiday or event.
  • Maintains an adequate supply of equipment for regular activities, keeping within budgetary guidelines.
  • Arranges and transports residents for regular and special outings, including emergency resident care supplies and staff assistance, as needed.
  • Cultivates and participates in opportunities for residents to engage in various community centers and service projects.
  • Possesses and maintains a strong knowledge of the community, its benefits, the services provided, healthcare services overall, the residents, and employees.
  • Performs other duties consistent with the position as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in creating and coordinating activities for older adults.
  • Ability to supervise, lead, and motivate people.
  • Valid driver's license within the state of employment.
  • Ability to delegate responsibility while maintaining oversight of daily activities and major projects.
  • Knowledge of the requirements for providing care and supervision to the elderly.
  • Strong understanding of the English language sufficient to read, write, and interpret administrative information.
  • Effective communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in volunteer recruitment and training preferred.
