About the position

The Engagement Coordinator for the Interagency Arctic Research Policy Committee (IARPC) is responsible for managing the IARPC Collaborations website and implementing communication and outreach strategies to foster community engagement in Arctic research. This remote position involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including Indigenous communities, to enhance participation and belonging within the IARPC Collaborations community.

Responsibilities

  • Create and guide the implementation of communication strategies for IARPC.
  • Support public engagement around the Arctic Research Plan and its implementation.
  • Prepare IARPC materials for workshops and symposia, including developing abstracts and presentations.
  • Engage in partnerships with communities and organizations related to IARPC.
  • Administer the IARPC social media accounts and newsletters.
  • Represent IARPC Collaborations at symposia, conferences, and workshops.
  • Onboard new collaboration team leaders and support team engagement.
  • Design automated communication to encourage ongoing engagement with the website.
  • Edit and post webinar video files to IARPC Collaborations and YouTube.
  • Coordinate the IARPC Collaboration Mentorship Program and Early Career communities.
  • Facilitate interactions among community members to encourage participation.
  • Organize the IARPC Collaborations public webinar series.
  • Ensure new content is added to the IARPC Collaborations website and curate material posted.
  • Develop metrics to evaluate user experiences of the IARPC Collaborations website.
  • Provide technical support to the Secretariat for various workspace tools.

Requirements

  • Experience coordinating scientific communities and developing networks.
  • Experience managing websites and/or databases; basic HTML and CSS skills a plus.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills; copyediting experience preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills, including familiarity with Google Suite and Zoom.
  • Strong graphic design skills; familiarity with Adobe Suite and/or Canva a plus.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to manage time effectively.
  • Commitment to improving equity, inclusion, diversity, and accessibility.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with the Arctic research landscape and federal processes.
