About the position

The Engagement Coordinator for the Interagency Arctic Research Policy Committee (IARPC) is responsible for managing the IARPC Collaborations website and implementing communication and outreach strategies to engage various audiences in Arctic research. This remote position involves collaboration with the IARPC Secretariat and focuses on fostering community participation and belonging within the IARPC Collaborations community.

Responsibilities

  • Create and guide the implementation of communication strategies for IARPC and specific events; serve as media point of contact.
  • Support public engagement around the Arctic Research Plan and track potential engagement events.
  • Prepare materials for workshops and symposia, including developing abstracts, posters, presentations, and reports.
  • Engage in partnerships with communities and organizations to benefit IARPC Collaborations.
  • Collaborate with other organizations in the Arctic research community.
  • Administer IARPC social media accounts and newsletters.
  • Represent IARPC at symposia, conferences, and workshops/trainings.
  • Develop relationships with Indigenous communities in collaboration with the Indigenous Engagement & Communication Specialist.
  • Onboard new collaboration team leaders and support team engagement.
  • Onboard new IARPC Collaborations members through email and video conferencing.
  • Design automated communication to encourage ongoing engagement with the website.
  • Edit and post webinar video files to IARPC Collaborations and YouTube, sharing content on social media.
  • Coordinate the IARPC Collaboration Mentorship Program and Early Career and Diversity & Inclusion communities.
  • Facilitate interactions among community members to encourage participation and belonging.
  • Develop and support equity, inclusion, diversity, and accessibility initiatives for IARPC Collaborations.
  • Organize the IARPC Collaborations public webinar series, including coordination and hosting.
  • Support the participation of Indigenous community members in IARPC Collaborations.

Requirements

  • Experience coordinating scientific communities and developing networks.
  • Experience managing websites and/or databases; basic HTML and CSS skills are a plus.
  • Familiarity with the Arctic research landscape and federal processes preferred but not required.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills; copyediting experience preferred but not required.
  • Excellent computer skills, including familiarity with Google Suite and Zoom.
  • Strong graphic design skills; familiarity with Adobe Suite and/or Canva a plus.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to manage time and prioritize tasks.
  • Experience working effectively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to improving equity, inclusion, diversity, and accessibility.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with the Arctic research landscape and federal processes.
  • Copyediting experience.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Suite and/or Canva.
