About the position

Marsh Risk Consulting is a successful division of Marsh McLennan Companies that specializes in over 26 industry practices and over 30 risk and specialty practices across 500 offices worldwide. The Workforce Strategy practice has a multitude of specialties, including Health & Safety/ Life Safety, Ergonomics, Transportation/ Fleet Auto, Behavioral, and Industry Expertise, which covers an array of specialized groups. Marsh is seeking candidates for the Engagement Lead - Risk Management (Health & Safety) position, ideally based in the West Coast office. In this role, you will drive and communicate moderately complex issues, recommendations, timelines, and deliverables to internal and client teams to manage project plans and progress. You will identify opportunities and develop proposals, potentially selling consulting engagements to grow the business. Additionally, you will facilitate engagement economics, monitor certain financial aspects of engagements, and recommend engagement billing/pricing to support the team. Advising, coaching, and supporting team members on meeting expectations and technical health and safety topics will be essential, as well as setting expectations to promote a working-learning environment. A strong knowledge of loss control strategies related to workers' compensation, safety regulations, general liability, auto, property, crime, and disaster/contingency management is essential. You will need a documented history of managing a multi-state safety program that has achieved measurable results through the implementation of specific loss reduction strategies and programs. The ability to successfully manage multiple projects at once and prioritize tasks to meet client and internal deadlines is crucial. A good understanding of data analysis and risk assessment, along with strong organizational, leadership, and motivational skills, will be necessary for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Drive and communicate moderately complex issues, recommendations, timelines, and deliverables to internal and client teams.
  • Identify opportunities and develop proposals to sell consulting engagements.
  • Facilitate engagement economics and monitor financial aspects of engagements.
  • Advise, coach, and support team members on health and safety topics.
  • Maintain a recognized professional safety certification.
  • Use Continuous Risk Improvement (CRI) process to create lasting improvements.
  • Increase the quality, safety, and efficiency of operations.
  • Develop and implement sustainable safety and health management systems.
  • Provide detailed reports and develop safety procedures.

Requirements

  • College degree required, minimum Bachelor of Science, advanced degree preferred.
  • 8-10 years of practical and management experience in health and safety.
  • Recognized professional safety certification such as CSP, CHMM, CIH is a plus.
  • Thorough knowledge of health and safety laws and guidelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply regulatory requirements in various operational settings.
