Position Overview: We seek a Client Engagement Manager that is ready to step up into a leadership role within an established and growing IT Consulting Practice. The role is a combination of billable consulting, team leadership, client relationship management, and account development. The Client Engagement Manager will lead data center transformation programs and will own the success of client engagements. We also expect this person to work with the leadership within our Data Center Migrations and Transformation solutions consulting practice to manage various internal business development and solution enhancement initiatives to grow the line of business. You are expected to manage project teams and deliverables, own and foster key client relationships, and help resource projects. Acting as a senior consultant on projects, you will lead projects by analyzing business requirements, presenting related solutions, and driving the business case and financial justifications. This will transpire through joint account planning, partner teaming (internal & external), on-site client interface/visits, engagement/solution development, and implementation support/follow-up. This role is entrepreneurial and will work with senior leadership in the Migration business unit to enhance our professional services offerings, including mentoring team members, developing new tools and processes, contributing to thought leadership and knowledge sharing, supporting the proposal and pre-sales process, and supporting internal projects to enhance Align's service offerings. As you grow into more of a leadership role within the Migrations Solution, you will develop and enforce standards, assist with solution development, assist with project resourcing, and help define the strategic direction of the solution. Acting as a strategic advisor, you must have experience leading Current State to Target State IT Infrastructure assessments and initiatives. Candidates must have experience successfully managing complex data center migration programs and managing key customer relationships. To be successful in this role, you must be resourceful, solutions-oriented, and possess the skills and the ability to develop solutions and author presentations (PPT) to articulate and influence clients' executive teams on a proposed infrastructure strategy. This role is a hybrid role based out of our Iselin, New Jersey Office. The position in its nature requires some travel, which at times could be up to 30%. This is a full-time position offering full benefits, a competitive base salary in the $150K to $175K+ range (we are flexible based on experience), paid training, and performance-based bonuses.

Responsibilities

  • Own the success of complex data center and cloud migrations programs including project oversight, management of multiple workstreams, team leadership, and client relationship management.
  • Support account development and growth, and the development of new services.
  • Perform billable IT advisory work, solution development, technical project management, and delivery.
  • Perform the consultative discovery of the clients' business goals, objectives, and challenges and translate them into effective infrastructure solutions.
  • Act as an IT Infrastructure Strategic Advisor and support the whole project life cycle from pre-sales to project closeout phases.
  • Work as both a leader within the migrations solution and a billable resource on strategic consulting engagements.
  • Work closely with other subject matter experts in a matrix environment to plan, schedule, and execute projects for various-sized enterprise clients (infrastructure, storage, network, server, and IT appliances, etc.), while ensuring successful delivery, enforcing standards, and seeking to uncover additional opportunities.
  • Contribute to thought leadership within Migrations and help define our strategic vision, by continually evolving our solution offerings to grow our revenue and client base.
  • Ensure quality control by developing and managing processes, as well as providing oversight and education.
  • Nurture and mentor team members to continually improve the skills within the team and provide a career path for the team.
  • Lead IT Infrastructure current state assessments and develop target state infrastructure solutions which may include private, hybrid, and public cloud solutions.
  • Drive solutions development, work with subject matter experts, and put a cohesive vision in place that can be presented to clients' executive teams.
  • Advise clients on potential risk, and manage client expectations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • 8+ years of project management experience with a focus on data center/cloud migration, optimization, or transformation.
  • 2+ years of relevant IT Professional Services or IT Advisory Consulting experience.
  • Experience successfully leading complex Data Center Migration programs.
  • Advanced project management and client relationship management skills and the ability to grow client relationships.
  • Experience leading IT Infrastructure current state assessments and developing target state infrastructure solutions which may include private, hybrid, and public cloud solutions.
  • Some supervisory or people management experience would be preferred.
  • Ability to understand the technology and author business justification documentation and executive level presentations.
  • Experience in IT infrastructure re-platforming; data center migration, optimization or consolidation; IT infrastructure transformation projects with exposure to hybrid solutions, cloud, and migration methodologies; and IT operations outsourcing.
  • Knowledge of discovery tools and understanding the data collected to map dependencies and develop migration strategies.
  • In-depth experience managing complex project lifecycles starting at the pre-sales engineering phases and ending in project closeout.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Prior quality control and process improvement experience.
  • Estimating, pre-sales, and proposal development experience.
  • PMP or other project management certifications.
  • Cloud (AWS, Azure) or other infrastructure certifications.
  • Advanced MS Project, PowerPoint, Visio, and Office tools documentation skills.
  • ITIL and ITSM knowledge and certifications desired.
