About the position

Collins Aerospace is currently seeking a Senior Systems Engineer for our Engine Control Systems business unit located in Windsor Locks, CT. This position is integral to the development and integration of advanced engine control systems, including electronic engine controls (FADEC), control effectors, sensors, actuation components, fuel pumps, and fuel controls. As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will report directly to the Systems Integration Manager and will be responsible for providing comprehensive Systems Engineering support for assigned programs. In this role, you will collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary teams within Collins Aerospace and our customer, Pratt & Whitney (PW), to ensure effective system-level coordination of engine requirements and verification planning. Your focus will primarily be on Electrical and Electronic products and subsystems. You will be expected to review data using PW Unigraph, support investigations, isolate issues to the component level, and work with the Integrated Project Team (IPT) to address these issues. Long-term responsibilities will include designing and developing Jet Engine and Flight Control Systems for both Commercial and Military engine programs. This encompasses architecture development, control system analysis to support requirements development and verification, as well as requirements management and allocation. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring that our systems meet the highest standards of performance and reliability, contributing to the overall success of our aerospace solutions.

Responsibilities

  • System level coordination of engine requirements and verification planning with multi-disciplinary teams within Collins and with Pratt & Whitney.
  • Review data using PW Unigraph and support investigations to isolate issues to the component level.
  • Design and develop Jet Engine and Flight Control Systems for Commercial and Military engine programs.
  • Conduct architecture development and control system analysis to support requirements development and verification.
  • Manage and allocate requirements effectively.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in engine/aircraft system design.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience with electrical, electronic, and sensing components and subsystems.
  • Familiarity with Collins and Pratt & Whitney tools and design and qualification processes.
  • Proficiency with DOORs, Matlab, Dymola, Cameo Systems Modeler or similar applications.
  • Experience in Engine Control Systems and Hardware Integration.
  • Experience with System Dynamic Modeling, System Verification and Validation.
