About the position

The Engine Field Technician I is responsible for providing high-quality repair services on equipment, ensuring customer needs are met in a positive and timely manner. This role involves diagnosing and troubleshooting engine problems, performing repairs, and maintaining accurate service records.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned jobs and tasks to meet flat rate times and re-do metrics.
• Complete related paperwork and access databases required to complete jobs accurately and timely.
• Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, clean and inspect assemblies with minimal supervision.
• Perform timely parts and core returns with appropriate documentation.
• Conduct warranty downloads of ECM.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot problems, provide recommendations for repairs, and make critical engine repairs and adjustments.
• Test and verify correct operation of all repairs and adjustments.
• Apply general failure analysis and procedures to determine proper diagnosis.
• Perform engine and component rebuilds with limited supervision.
• Submit accurate and timely service reports and timecards daily.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficient use of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools, laptops, diagnostic software, and cranes and rigging equipment.
• Specific CAT product knowledge of gas, diesel, electrical, electronic, and mechanical components.
• Knowledge of database software, internet software, manufacturing software, and order processing systems.
• Ability to provide accurate quotes.
• Flexibility to work various schedules including shift work, required overtime, and on-call.
