About the position

The Engine Shop Technician I is responsible for providing high-quality repair services on equipment, ensuring customer needs are met in a positive and timely manner. This role involves working primarily on weekends with a focus on safety and efficiency in completing assigned tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Complete assigned jobs and tasks to meet flat rate times and re-do metrics.
  • Work safely and follow all WCAT safety policies and procedures.
  • Complete related paperwork and access databases required to complete jobs accurately and timely.
  • Follow contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations.
  • Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, clean and inspect assemblies with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • General knowledge of gas, diesel, electrical, electronic, mechanical components.
  • Proficient use of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments, laptops, diagnostic software, and cranes and rigging equipment.
  • Ability to provide accurate quotes.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Associate's degree/certificate in diesel technology or similar mechanical discipline (preferred).
  • 3-5 years of experience as a diesel/automotive technician/mechanic or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated work experience and knowledge of diesel or gas engines, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic systems and components.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with diagnostic software and tools.
  • Certification in diesel technology or related fields.
