About the position

The position involves providing civil-structural engineering and technical expertise to Transmission Substation engineering and design teams. The role focuses on delivering safe, cost-effective, and quality engineering services, addressing complex engineering challenges, and includes both direct client work and project management support. The incumbent is expected to manage project schedules and budgets, support proposal development, and contribute to business development efforts.

Responsibilities

• Provide civil-structural engineering expertise to Transmission Substation teams.
• Identify, analyze, and resolve engineering and design problems.
• Plan, organize, estimate, schedule, and monitor work activities effectively.
• Prepare thorough and accurate technical reports, documentation, and calculations.
• Continuously improve engineering knowledge and skills.
• Create substation civil-structural drawing packages using national codes and industry standards.
• Interact with customers and maintain professional relationships.
• Monitor deliverables and schedules, presenting solutions to clients.
• Mentor and provide leadership to junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
• 2-4 years of experience as a Civil/Structural Engineer in the electrical industry, specifically in power delivery.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification preferred; actively working towards a Professional Engineering (PE) license.

Nice-to-haves

• Ability to interpret written specifications and implement them on engineering drawings.
• Experience in creating civil engineering drawing packages for substations.
• Skills in project scope creation, estimates, budgets, and schedules for substation projects.
• Experience in analyzing and designing various foundation types.
• Ability to oversee junior staff and mentor designers/drafters.
• Experience in collaborating with other design disciplines and construction contractors.
