About the position

The Engineer Analyst - Main Propulsion position at Prevailance involves providing expert support for U.S. Navy operations, specifically focusing on shipboard propulsion systems. The role requires extensive hands-on experience in propulsion engineering, readiness evaluations, and managing engineering administration programs. The successful candidate will engage in evaluations, inspections, and maintenance programs to ensure operational readiness of propulsion systems across various naval platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise in Main Propulsion (MP) systems across various platforms (Gas Turbine, Diesel, and Steam)
  • Evaluate and support MP administrative programs, including LOQM, FOQM, DFS, TSO, and Bearing Records
  • Conduct readiness evaluations based on the Surface Force Training and Readiness Manual (SFTRM), particularly Chapter 6
  • Support INSURV inspections, understanding the requirements of Master Event Lists, Workbook deliverables, and inspection guides
  • Manage maintenance and operational programs, including Material Maintenance Management (3M) and the Planned Maintenance System (PMS)
  • Utilize knowledge of support systems such as lube and fuel oil services, HP and LP Air, CRP, and control systems
  • Utilize the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM) to assess Equipment Operational Capability (EOC) definitions and scoring
  • Engage in travel (up to 50%) and embark U.S. Naval vessels for extended periods during operations and inspections

Requirements

  • 20 years of documented hands-on Navy shipboard propulsion engineering experience
  • Three (3) at sea tours working in a Main Propulsion capacity
  • Experience operating and maintaining MP related equipment and support systems
  • Engineering Officer of the Watch (EOOW) qualification on at least one Navy ship

Nice-to-haves

  • Retired Senior Enlisted (E7/E8)
  • Recent experience (within the last 5 years) operating / maintaining a Main Propulsion plant
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience as one of the following: An Inspector for the U.S. Navy Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV); Inspector at the Afloat Training Group; or TYCOM staff focusing on Pre-INSURV preparations
