About the position

We are seeking a talented Engineer to join our team responsible for the design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems. In this role, you will perform engineering design evaluations and may develop a range of products. Your expertise will be crucial in recommending alterations to enhance the quality of our products and procedures. This position offers a unique opportunity for career growth, allowing you to gain comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing processes from multiple perspectives, including Fractionation, Bulk Purification, and Fill/Finish. You will also support deviations and batch releases using worst-case data, downscale reports, and technical assessments, contributing to the overall efficiency and quality of our operations. The role is designed to foster a collaborative environment where you will engage in ongoing taskforces aimed at achieving 'Right First Time' outcomes. This may involve lab or shop floor work and studies, providing you with varied responsibilities that include managing sample logistics and supporting process and equipment improvements via GCC. You will be working on-site in Kankakee, with the possibility of remote work once fully trained. The position operates on a first shift schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and it is initially a 6-month contract with the potential for extension based on performance. As an Engineer, you will be responsible for performing engineering design evaluations, developing a range of products, and recommending alterations to improve the quality of products and procedures. You will rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform your functions, working under immediate supervision and typically reporting to a supervisor or manager. This role not only allows you to apply your engineering skills but also to contribute to the continuous improvement of our manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering design evaluations.
  • Develop a range of products.
  • Recommend alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures.
  • Support deviations and batch releases from a process engineering perspective.
  • Draft technical assessments to justify batch releases using worst-case data and downscale reports.
  • Provide peer reviews for process engineering technical assessments.
  • Conduct normalization calculations from characterization testing results.
  • Manage sample logistics for technical assessments.
  • Support ongoing taskforces for Right First Time initiatives.
  • Assist with process and equipment improvements via GCC.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in biotech manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the engineering field.
  • Ability to work under immediate supervision and follow pre-established guidelines.
