The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is seeking an Engineer to join the Industrial and Chemical Safety team. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the high-quality execution of the standards development process. The Engineer will serve as a Staff Liaison, managing standards development projects and supporting the application of these standards by providing answers to technical questions. Additionally, the Engineer will collaborate with the Standards Administration and Publishing and Production teams, acting as a technical resource capable of creating and curating content as needed to support Technical Services. In this role, the Engineer will manage a set of technical committee assignments in accordance with NFPA documentation regulations. This includes making decisions regarding committee membership, revision schedules, and related document management tasks. The Engineer will ensure that timely and accurate revisions are captured for assigned standards documents, making necessary schedule adjustments when required. A strong understanding and expertise in the NFPA standards development process, regulations, and context is essential, as the Engineer will need to effectively communicate this understanding to committee members and participants throughout the standards development process. The Engineer will also be responsible for understanding, researching, and preparing for moderately complex technical and standards development challenges across assigned projects. Managing Technical Question Service (TQS) cases will be a key responsibility, which involves reviewing and providing answers in accordance with established procedures for completeness and quality, and closing cases within established time standards. On an as-needed basis, the Engineer will provide content creation and curation support in response to Technical Services requests.
