About the position

The Mobile Processor Innovation (MPI) Lab at Samsung Research America is seeking talented individuals for computational imaging and camera algorithm R&D roles. The primary focus of this position is to leverage AI technology to enhance mobile camera experiences, contributing to the development of cutting-edge algorithms and technologies that improve functionalities such as low light photography and AI-enhanced photography. The role involves collaboration with a global team to deliver impactful solutions for future Samsung Mobile products.

Responsibilities

  • Identify areas of differentiation and innovation around mobile camera using AI, computational imaging, computer vision, and deep learning algorithms.
  • Prototype algorithms in MATLAB, C/C++, and Python on PC and embedded platforms.
  • Write high-quality prototype code that can be integrated into production systems by worldwide teams.
  • Understand the constraints of mobile systems to deliver feasible and efficient algorithms.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience in computational imaging.
  • 1+ years of experience in deep learning frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience in AI pixel processing networks, computational photography applications, and image processing techniques.
  • Experience with embedded implementation of image processing and computational photography algorithms.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interactions with R&D management and team members.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong algorithm background in image processing and computational imaging.
  • Willingness to travel internationally.
  • Familiarity with smartphone and mobile product development.
  • Experience with deep learning methods for image processing.
  • Understanding of optics and optical systems.
  • Experience with computer vision algorithms and vision analytics systems.
  • Understanding of inertial sensors for computational imaging.
  • Experience with Android in building image processing/computer vision apps.
  • Understanding of HLOS layers, Multimedia SW frameworks, and compute paradigms.
