About the position

The Control Systems Engineer is responsible for the development, integration, verification, and certification of electronic Control Systems, including Automatic Flight Control Systems (AFCS) and related technologies. This role involves analytical design, system requirements development, and ensuring compliance with safety and certification standards throughout the Control Systems life cycle.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and certify Control Systems, specifically AFCS, including architecture development and system integration.
  • Conduct analytical design and development of closed loop Control Systems, including control topology and control law structure development.
  • Define Control Systems integration, verification, and validation (V&V) testing requirements and support testing activities.
  • Execute Automatic Flight Control System integration and certification testing.
  • Review and define control systems requirements, electrical drawings, test plans, and system safety documentation.
  • Resolve issues arising from development, certification, production, and field support activities.
  • Review System Safety documents, including Functional Hazard Assessments and Fault Tree Analysis.
  • Interface with Avionics Supplier System Engineers and support integration activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • At least 7 years of direct experience as a control systems engineer in aircraft development programs, preferably in flight critical systems.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal teamwork skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and accountability to resolve issues with minimal supervision.
  • System troubleshooting and debugging skills in both lab and aircraft environments.
  • Working knowledge of control systems and fail-operational system architectures.
  • Fluency in systems requirements development and management.
  • Working knowledge of modern control design methods and aircraft stability analysis.
  • Fluency in Mathworks MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites and FAA & EASA certification requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Engineering process tools for Requirement Management, Defect Tracking, and Configuration Control.
